NEWSLETTER PAGE
First, we had a wonderful increase in membership.
This paid our way to do some renovations to the
museum, in order to accommodate our latest
collections.  We have truly been blessed with gifts of
trophies, saddles and boots, along with many rodeo
pictures, programs and “rodeo day sheets”, which
lists all the contestants who entered the rodeo.
(Some of these go back to the 40’s and 50’s.)  We
are quite often asked to research various cowboys
and cowgirls participation in the shows.  We are glad
to do so, and sometimes even have a picture or two
to send them.  We only ask for a donation to the
museum

We are now on the Internet,
www.cowgirlsmuseum.
com.
We will keep updates and news of the museum
posted, besides sending out our newsletter.  We have
become a member of PayPal so you can pay dues, or
make purchases from the museum via the Internet.

We are a member of Colorado Wyoming Association of
Museums CWAM, and just recently received some
wonderful western items through that association.

But the most notable and exciting thing the museum
experienced was the acquisition of the Rose Clayton
1906 Trophy presented by the Denver Post to the winner
of the women’s relay race at Cheyenne Frontier Days.
101 years old, this beautiful silver, hand engraved trophy
was never pictured in any of the annals of CFD, and had
seemed to disappear.  Our research of history located it,
and the story of Rose and her family will be recorded
and documented.  Our plan is to give this wonderful
Cowgirl her long overdue credit and honors.  Her story is
exciting and will be included in the next newsletter.

The Museum plans to open early in the spring and will
be shown by appointment.  It has already been viewed
by several western historians who are very impressed
with the amount of Cowgirl history on display (There is
some cowboy stuff too.) The outside of the museum has
created a lot of interest with the western scenes, horse
trailers and wagons.

So please consider renewing your membership today.
We need to keep the momentum going. It is our hope all
members will wear their boot with pride and will visit the
museum.  If you really love the Cowgirl you won’t be
able contain your excitement!  These were the gals that
opened the doors to what we women enjoy today.  They
would be thrilled to know how we are embracing their
life’s with a museum in their honor.

2007 did take some of our beautiful Cowgirls to Ride
Forever in The Heavenly Arena:  Lucy Keffer, Nancy
Miller and Ruby Mercer all from Cheyenne. (You
probably noticed that the stars above were twinkling
brighter since they left us.)

All new members receive a “boot.”  (If you have paid
your dues and have not received your boot, please let us
know.)  Our membership list is growing all the time.  (A
number of tough Cowboys have joined us too!)  Hurray!
Hurray!
